First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at thyssenkrupp.
Sales Trainee
Applied in early 2019, initially heard nothing. After 2-3 months, they asked if I was interested in a sales trainee position. I was invited to a phone interview on short notice (unfortunately, they didn't say who would be on the call). Then, I was invited to an assessment center on short notice. Generally, they put a lot of effort and time into it, but there were a few points to criticize: No information on how to get there (important, as public transport is very difficult), information on travel expense reimbursement only upon request, no breaks during the 5-hour assessment (since I was the only applicant, this should have been expected). Conclusion: They put in effort and took time, but the HR manager asked unprofessional and too private questions. The location is a big disadvantage - that's why this trainee position was no longer an option for me.

Outside Sales Representative
I interviewed with the local sales manager in Alabama first. After that, I had a series of interviews at their facility in Richburg, SC. It felt like a gauntlet there – I met with the VP of Sales, the Plant Manager, the General Manager of Richburg, and the Purchasing Manager. The whole thing felt pretty laid back, but I knew everyone had to sign off. It took a few weeks after the interviews to get the written offer.
- What prompted you to leave your prior roles?
Outside Sales Representative
Met on campus for an informal interview. Then traveled to Marietta, Georgia for three more interviews. These were very behavioral and informative. Afterward, I was invited back for a sales presentation and a role-play scenario where I had to act as a sales rep for ThyssenKrupp.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a career in sales?
- Do you find enjoyment in tasks like working on your car and similar activities?
