HR Project Manager
It started out really friendly and inclusive, but then the last round got weird. The HR manager started asking some intimidating questions about my personal life and brought up the age vs experience thing, even though I've got a proven track record and I'm already in the final stage. Plus, I've got over 15 years of experience, so it felt a bit much. After all that, it's been over a month of silence, even though they mentioned internal hiring for the role.
- Can you clarify the age versus experience gap?
IT Project Manager
Pleasant, equal-level interview. Sympathetic interviewer. Easy conversation. No special features. Process and HR feedback a bit too long. It was important to know about international corporations. Technical questions were not asked. There were questions about career path and specifically about further training in the PM field.
- Questions regarding your professional background.
- Could you detail the projects you have completed?
- What was the scale of these projects in terms of size and number of people involved?
Project Manager
I had a phone call with the company recruiter first, which was over an hour long and very detailed. They talked about the job and the company and checked if I was a good fit. Two days later, I got scheduled for an on-site interview with the department manager. The on-site interview was really bad. The manager was late, didn't have a room booked, and just skimmed my resume. Nothing about the job was discussed, and he didn't show me any products or explain my role. Some people walked in and out during the interview because the room wasn't reserved. We only had 8 minutes left when he mentioned they needed the room for a meeting, so we didn't finish. I didn't get to ask questions, and we didn't cover the job's nature. He didn't walk me out or say thanks. It was the worst upper management interview. I wouldn't recommend interviewing with the GM at ThyssenKrupp in Ft Worth.
