The interview process had two rounds. First, there was a 1-hour virtual meeting with the hiring manager to go over your background, the role, and the company culture. Then, there was a 2-hour and 15-minute virtual onsite interview, which included a 45-minute portfolio presentation, followed by individual 30-minute chats with the same people who were at the presentation. Each of these individual chats focused on different things like design craft, cross-functional collaboration, and a peer interview.

Got an interview email in December for a Product Designer role. I prepped for days since it was my first product design interview. The recruiter didn't ask me about my portfolio, even when I offered to go over it. She said she'd let me know the next day if I advanced. No email came the next day. Weeks passed, I sent a follow-up. No response. A month passed. No response. I was frustrated and gave up because the recruiter was so unprofessional. I was excited to join Thumbtack but this recruiter gave me a bad impression of their hiring process. Thumbtack needs to do better and not leave candidates hanging. It's rude and unprofessional!

I had to come in onsite twice. The first time was just a 1 on 1 meeting with a Design manager where they did a quick review of my portfolio. The second time I came onsite was for a presentation where I presented to a bunch of design managers and other personnel, also some PMs and engineers were there. Then after that, I did a design exercise, and an app critique, and then had some more 1 on 1s.
