I had applied for a different job at the Veterans Project, but they hired someone else for that one. The recruiter then suggested I interview for the Community Support Specialist role instead. The job description wasn't very clear about what the job actually entailed. The recruiter described it as a 'life-coaching' role where I'd primarily talk to veterans from the office and only occasionally visit communities or homes. However, the reality is that I'd be using my own car to drive disabled veterans to appointments and errands, essentially being a driver for them. I saw the job reposted on LinkedIn recently, which makes me think the person they hired might have quit due to burnout from how demanding the job is. After my interview, I was ghosted and never heard back, which was disappointing even though I wasn't interested in the job after learning more about it.

First, I had a 30-minute phone chat with the recruiter. Then, there was a 1-hour interview with either the VP or a Sr. Director. Lastly, I had a timed written assignment where I was given 4 hours to complete it.

My phone interview was really good. It was basically a casual chat about my background, what I'm good at, my education, and how I'd be a good fit for the company. Things went so well that I actually got offered a different role at Thresholds, and now I'm just waiting to hear back about which of the two new sites on West Roosevelt Rd in Chicago I'll be working at, helping either veterans or women.
