I only heard back after applying online for two years when I went to an on-site hiring event. I went in, filled out a form for each job I was interested in, and then waited for an interviewer, even though I had an appointment. It was a really straightforward process with typical technical support and customer service questions. They told me at the end if I would move on to the next stage, which was a technical interview.

I went in, someone greeted me, and I was put in front of a computer to do some coding tasks. After finishing those, I met with an interviewer, explained my thought process, and then was shown out. I didn't get any feedback and was rejected. Months later, I got an email to schedule an interview. I set it up, but the day before, I got a cancellation notice from a Gmail account (not the company) saying the interview was cancelled because I was already rejected. I would have thought the company would have marked me ineligible and not sent out automated emails, instead of getting my hopes up and then crushing them.

I applied months ago and heard nothing back from recruiters. This month, someone helped me get an in-person interview. I met a recruiter who had ignored me before. First, there was a phone call with a recruiter, which felt like they were assessing if I'd take a low salary. The next day, I went to the office, but my interviewers were late. When one finally arrived, she didn't know my name and seemed uninterested, which was odd for someone in a senior position. The other interviewer showed up at the very end, making things awkward. The whole experience was disorganized. They then had me do a technical interview involving setting up a Virtual Machine, followed by shadowing someone for over an hour. It felt like they'd forgotten about me and didn't respect my time. I was there for almost 4 hours and still haven't heard back days later. It was a disappointing experience. I wouldn't accept an offer because the company seems to disregard candidates and offers low pay compared to others.

So the first interview was basically just chatting about if I'm down to work the hours they're open, what I'm looking to make, and why I even applied. Then, the second interview was a solid hour of technical stuff, followed by a 30-minute shadowing session with someone who works there. They sent over a job offer three days after that second interview, but it was 14,000 less than I said I wanted in the first chat. My only real gripe is that they should be more upfront about the pay from the get-go; I wouldn't have bothered interviewing and wasting everyone's time if I knew it was gonna be close to minimum wage.
