Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ThoughtSpot.
Frontend Developer
Overall process was very bad. They didn't show up if you didn't make it in any round. What is the purpose of scheduling multiple rounds when you don't want to take all and see overall candidate. I got rejection call and email while giving interview which clearly tells about process.
- Make rating star in ui
- Task schedule micro task and event queue implementation on own with only synchronous tasks
- System design of Shopify portal
Senior Frontend Developer
HR reached out on LinkedIn. I applied there and after a week, they set up one technical round. I got rejected after the first round, even though I solved the problem. It was weird because the interviewer was shouting when I asked for help.
- Implement a type ahead search feature.
Frontend Developer
I applied through the jobs portal and heard back from the recruiter a few days later. The first two rounds were on the same day. Round 1 was a frontend dev challenge: build an autosuggestion field using a mock API. I finished it on time and answered some follow-up questions, feeling good about it. Round 2 was Algo and DS, with two coding questions; the interviewer gave hints, and I finished early. Rounds 3 and 4 were scheduled a few days later, also on the same day. Round 3 was system design for a chat app like Whatsapp, where I led the discussion from requirements to API design and performance. Round 4 was behavioral, focusing on my experience, projects, and handling missed deadlines or conflicts. It was a good chat, and I learned about their products.
- How would you build an autosuggestion field using a provided mock API in your preferred language/framework?
- There were two Algo and DS questions that I had to code.
- Can you design a chat application similar to Whatsapp?
