First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Thinkific.
Marketing
The interview process at Thinkific uses the Topgrading method, which I found to be quite intense. It felt more like an interrogation for three hours, leaving me feeling drained. This experience significantly dampened my enthusiasm for the company and the role. I only got about three minutes at the very end to learn about the actual job, which I felt was insufficient. While I understand the rationale behind Topgrading, it doesn't resonate with my personal approach or values. Ultimately, this interview process was a deal-breaker for me. However, I did enjoy the pre-interview assignment.

- Could you walk me through a marketing campaign you managed that was particularly effective, detailing the main metrics that demonstrated its success?
- How do you ensure you are current with the newest developments and tools in the marketing field?

So you start with a recruiter call, then meet with HR and the hiring manager. After that, there's an assignment which they say isn't free work, but mine was noted as potentially implementable. The final interview is a really long panel interview over Zoom, like 3 hours, and it felt more like an interrogation about my whole life. It's a tough process, takes a lot of time and sacrifice, but they do warn you upfront about the time commitment and give you resources. Even though they liked my assignment and interviews, said I'd be a great addition, and HR checked my interest and salary, I got a rejection email a week later saying they went with someone else. The final interview, with marketing heads and a co-founder, was supposed to be a 'top grading' interview but it was basically a 3-hour life story interrogation that felt biased against introverts like me. They said I lacked experience even though my resume and project suggested otherwise, probably because I was too tired to articulate it well by the end. It felt like the process favors a certain personality type.

The interview process is pretty thorough but simple. They'll let you know what to expect throughout. It began with a one-hour interview about my last job. Following that, there was an assignment, and then a longer three-hour interview where they dug deeper into all my past work experience. It seemed long at first, but it went by really fast.
- Tell me about your biggest achievements and failures in your previous roles.
