The process was pretty easy. If you have a Bachelor's degree, you can bypass an assessment. There's a recorded video interview where you talk about how you deal with students and your reasons for wanting to tutor.

For the interview, we need to know about your strategies for working with kids. You'll also have to do a demo lesson, where you'll be given a prompt to teach something, like how to do a specific task. There will be around 4 people on the interview panel.

So before even getting an interview, they make you do this assessment test covering spelling, algebra, geometry, and reading comprehension. I was totally unprepared for it, and also super tired from waking up at 4 AM for a trip, so I felt like I bombed it. But the test person said they'd consider my overall score and resume. I got an interview invite and scheduled it for the next day. They had me waiting for like an hour with not much info. Then I met with the assistant director and my potential supervisor. They asked about my past experience and how I could be an asset. It felt a bit like a test, but they did give you chances to explain yourself. The final question was about why I'd be a good match for the kids. They had me wait outside, and about 5 minutes later, called me back in to offer me the job, saying I did really well! They gave me some basic info about training and what to do beforehand. I did have to follow up a few days later for more email details since I didn't receive them. It seems like a demanding job with less-than-ideal pay and hours, but I guess it's a good way to find people who are truly dedicated to the kids. I'm looking for a side gig to stay connected with THINK Together.
