So, there's this personality assessment thing, and if you don't pass that, you're out, even if you're qualified. You're supposed to be accountable for a store and a team, but you end up working alone. The thing is, how can you evaluate your team if you only work with them like 2 to 3 hours a week? It feels more like a sales associate role than a manager one.

Behavioral Technical Case

I applied online and it took them a few weeks to get back to me. When they did, we scheduled an in-person interview. This interview was with the store manager, the MIT, and whoever else was on staff for the Assistant Manager position. It happened right there in the mall. The questions were pretty tough and situational, mostly like "tell me about a time when...". They had a list of questions and the interviewer wrote down my answers to show their district manager. You can usually tell if you did well because they'll start talking more about the job details and mention that the district manager will call you for a phone interview. If they don't do that, then you know you didn't get the job.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you discuss your previous leadership experiences?
  • What prompted you to apply for this role?
  • Describe a situation where you assisted a customer in finding a product.

The hiring process was quick. It started with a phone screening with the District Manager where we discussed my overall experience and availability. After that, I was given an assessment test, which was mostly a personality test. This was followed by an in-person one-on-one interview with the DM. I received a job offer over the phone the same week, and after I counter-offered the salary, she accepted my counter offer the next day. The entire process took about a week.
