Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Things Remembered.
Sales Associate
I filled out the application online and then got a call a few days later. They asked if I was still interested and if I could come in the next week for an interview at the store. The interview was one-on-one with the store manager, in person. It was pretty standard, asking me scenario questions and about my background. It was fairly easy. The manager said he had more interviews to do and would let people know in about a week. I heard back by email two weeks later, after calling the store twice, and they told me I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Why do you think you're a good fit for this role?
- What relevant background and experience do you have?
Sales Associate
I applied Nov 30 and got a call in Dec to schedule an interview. The manager interviewed me outside the store on a nearby bench. She asked about previous job experience and how they related to the job I was applying for. She told me the job was only going to last until the 24 of December which was dumb since that would only leave me with 2 weeks to work and then I would be out of a job again. She told me she would call or email me if I got the job, I did not receive either, but I wasn't too hurt.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a challenging customer interaction?
Sales Associate
I got an application from the kiosk on Saturday and turned it right back in to the assistant manager. The manager called me Monday and we set up an interview for Wednesday. When I got there, she explained the interview process and what I should expect. She asked about my previous work experience, whether I could manage working by myself, and other questions related to my sales methods. It was a pretty fast interview, and then she called the next day to offer me the position.
- How well do you perform when working independently, and can you manage high-stress situations effectively?
- Can you handle working alone?
- How well do you work alone? Can you handle stress well?
