I was contacted by an internal recruiter on LinkedIn and had an initial informal phone chat about the role. Then, I met with the hiring manager virtually for an interview. She told me I'd proceed to a second interview and gave me a task to complete. The recruiter sent the task, but it was unclear, so I had to ask for clarification. She initially said I had everything I needed, but upon further inquiry, realized only half the documents were sent, which was just a few days before the presentation and second interview. The task was time-consuming, but the presentation and interview went well, with positive feedback from the hiring manager. After that, I heard nothing for over three weeks. I emailed the recruiter to follow up, but didn't get an immediate response. Suddenly, I received an email stating they decided to hire someone more senior, without any apology or acknowledgment of the time I invested in the task. It was a poor experience and a waste of my time for a job I wasn't going to get.

Applied via LinkedIn easy apply and HR reached out within a week. Had a casual phone chat about my background, then the hiring team took over. HR then set up a call with them where I presented a task. The whole thing was about an hour long. Got the job offer the very next morning.

I applied online through the Hut Group in October. I didn't hear back until December when they emailed to set up a phone interview, which I had in January. It was mostly about my experience and the role. Then I was invited to an assessment center later that month at the Manchester/Airport site. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't sort parking, so I had to use the expensive airport car park. The day itself was pretty chill, not like a normal assessment center. The main issue was no interview rooms, so interviews happened in noisy working areas. Staff were friendly, but interviews felt rushed, and I felt I didn't get a fair shot with one interviewer as my time was cut short. At the end, we had to give a presentation to the interviewers we'd met. They seemed really disinterested though, which I found unprofessional given the effort we put in. Everyone interviewing me was young because people move up fast there. I also wasn't offered water all day, which felt concerning and like they weren't bothered. I applied for an SEO-focused graduate role, but they didn't ask about that, instead asking what role I'd want to be in, suggesting a miscommunication. Even though I didn't get an offer, it's probably for the best as the company culture seemed disorganized and unprofessional; I felt I'd just be a number. Good for experience though, to find an employer that actually cares.
