First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The SpyGlass Group.
Marketing
Had some phone interviews that went well, then an in-person interview. The in-person interview felt more like they were judging who I was instead of my skills. I could tell they were hiring a lot from my school, but I guess I wasn't what they were looking for.
- What is your ideal career aspiration?
Sales Development Representative
Had two interviews, they asked basic interview questions. It was very laid back and they wanted to get to know me. They wanted to know my background in sales and how I would be successful cold calling and working with a team.
- Can you tell me about yourself and why you'd be a good fit for this role?
Sales
I met them at a career fair and had my first interview in February 2018. I'm still waiting to hear back. We talked about my resume and why I want to go into sales. They started asking me about other companies I was applying for and how many, which got a little uncomfortable towards the end.
- What motivates you to pursue a career in sales?
- Could you tell me about some of the other companies you're considering applying to?
- Approximately how many other job applications do you currently have active?
Business Development Manager
I got referred by a friend to HR, who then reached out to me. The HR person, Caitlin (or maybe Courtney now), was great and asked about my interest and sales background. After we talked sales, she set up an interview for the next week. Round 1 was with HR or a Sr. Manager to get to know me as a person and understand my competitive drive, giving a good sense of what they do and how I'd fit in. Round 2 was with VP Sales Tom Janis, who really drilled down on sales and getting to know me, making it clear they want people who will have fun together and can compete to win. Be ready for a possible mock sales call. Round 3 was with President Ed D'Angelo, a great guy who explained more and assessed if I was 'spyglass material'. The offer came from Tom Janis, and I accepted. There was no negotiation, as it's a base salary plus commission structure. Overall, just be honest to fit their culture and you're in.
- What are your hobbies?
- What's something your family did to get you ready for your workplace?
- What have you done to prepare for your workplace?
