Associate
Started the day by joining a morning team meeting, then shadowed an associate. Concluded with an interview with a manager and an informal evaluation of skills and knowledge gained during the day.
- Can you explain a system for introducing and closing a sale?
- At the end of the day, what was the process for introducing and closing a sale?
Marketing Associate
The interview was pretty standard, just the usual questions. The interviewer was nice, but from the moment I walked in, I could tell it wasn't a serious business. The receptionist was just watching TV, and other staff were lounging around. I basically treated it as practice for jobs I'd actually be interested in. A big issue is that they underpay you, and you only find out the details about salary after digging. They have a draw system where you choose between your weekly salary or your sales commission. Your salary for a week without sales is only $200, which is way below minimum wage. If you make a sale, which involves selling Verizon wireless plans to small businesses, you might make around $600 for the week, but good luck trying to convince failing businesses to upgrade their phone plans.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What professional changes are you looking to make?
- What personal changes are you looking to make?
Account Executive
I saw the job posting on LinkedIn and applied. I was contacted quickly after applying and they asked if I could come in for an interview the next day. When I got there, there were several other people also interviewing, which made for an awkward waiting period. The interview process was pretty straightforward, no real surprises. I was contacted later that day to come back for a follow up the next day. As part of the follow up, I spent a day shadowing one of the employees. I think that this was a really good way for me to see if this was a good career fit for me. The job is very sales focused. If you are willing to put in the effort, the employees all seemed pretty happy with the results. I just didn't feel like it was a good fit for me.
- What do you think your references would say regarding your strengths?
- What do you think your references would say concerning your weaknesses?
Account Representative
The interview process has 2 phases. First, a quick basic interview to see if you're a good fit for the company and to give you a chance to ask questions about it. Second, a full-day shadow interview where you'll get familiar with the work and how they do it. This also lets the sales rep you're following get to know you and see if you'd be a good addition to the Socal group.
- What makes you want to work in Sales?
