First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Shade Store.
Design Consultant
The interview process was pretty long and detailed. It started with a phone interview with the recruiter, then another phone interview with the Director of Sales. After that, I had to complete a remote computer skills test. Then came the in-person part: a showroom interview, followed by meeting potential colleagues at the showroom. Before they made an offer, they also checked my references and ran a background check. After accepting, there were a couple of weeks of intense design and computer training.
- As a final step, they requested references for all previous positions held throughout my 20+ year career.
Design Consultant
Had a short phone chat. They asked some basic stuff. The HR person said she'd check out everyone and let me know about a second interview within a week. I sent a thank you right after. It's been over a week and still no word.
- What do you like most about your current role?
Design Consultant
The interview process is long and drawn out. Be prepared for multiple phone, store and Skype interviews as well as an online timed assessment test. It seems never ending (2 months) and bit like trying to land a job with the CIA. In my opinion the intense interview process does not align with the job duties or skill set needed. Everyone seems easy going, friendly and professional.
- What do you consider your strengths and weaknesses to be?
- Can you tell me about your current role and your reasons for seeking a new opportunity?
- What specifically about TSS interests you?
