First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The People Concern.
Grants Manager
I admit that I was a bit skeptical when I interviewed with the People Concern. I met with management and they eased my concerns and made me feel more positive. However, my final interview was with a woman on the grants team. She was horribly unprofessional, rude, and went on the attack for no reason. This soured my view of them as I had just come from a toxic environment and during that final interview I didn't bother trying further. If this is how someone on my team was going to be in the interview process, I didn't want to invest myself professionally in this place.
- Could you describe your experience with grant writing?
Fundraiser
Applied with references, then had a phone call for a vibe check, then a Zoom with management (as one of the last few candidates). The Zoom was my final stage before learning I didn't get the job.
- Describe your fundraising philosophy.
Case Manager
The interview process involved a zoom call followed by an in-person meeting at the location. It was conducted by two directors since there was no program manager. The interviews were relaxed and straightforward, with no unexpected elements. Overall, it was a good experience, with the first round on zoom and the second in person.
- Can you share some scenarios regarding your experience with the low-income population?
- Can you share some scenarios regarding your experience with the unhoused population?
Administrative Assistant
it started with a phone screening then an on site panel interview. it was pretty easy and they were responsive. i heard back in less than two weeks. after the on site interview, they requested a written test.
- Were there any general basic interview questions asked?
- Was a written test part of the process?
