First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Peninsula Hotels.
Room Service Manager
The first meeting is for the recruiter to get to know you better: your background, skills, and most importantly, why you want to work at the hotel. They often ask about what you know about the establishment and your reasons for applying. The second meeting goes deeper. It's to see if you're a good fit for the role and the team, sometimes with more specific questions or role-playing scenarios.
- What do you know about our establishment?
Events Operations Floor Manager
They had a recruitment day. I came in and waited to be called and was offered a drink. I then had an interview with 2 members of the HR Department. They asked if I had more time to meet with the Manager of the hotel. It was a nice and quick conversation where he asked 1 or 2 questions and I followed up with a few of my own.
- What have you been up to lately?
- What makes you want to work here?
- What experience do you possess that is relevant to this role?
Guest Services Assistant
So, the job I first applied for wasn't open anymore when they got my resume. But, a Director still met with me to see if I was interested in joining. After that, I met with 5 other people over 3 separate visits so they could figure out the best place for me. They really try to find creative ways to bring in people they think have potential, and they ask for your input on what kinds of roles you'd be open to. My situation was a bit unusual because we were waiting for a position to open up, so it took a really long time. There was even a month where I heard nothing. However, the first Director I met with kept me in the loop as much as possible.
- Can you tell me about your familiarity with The Peninsula Hotels group?

The interview process was very professional, upbeat, and welcoming. It was clear they were looking for someone with specific experience and personal presentation skills. I never felt intimidated or diminished during the interview. I had enough time to explain what I could offer. It was a great learning experience for my next job application. Anyone applying to work at the Peninsula Beverly Hills should prepare details about their past experience and present them concisely in the interview.
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
- What wine pairs well with a steak?
