First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Open University.
Senior Manager
The process was good overall, though the system felt a bit over-engineered and complex with fixed text communications. Lots of emails that didn't add much, but the office space was nice and the panel was friendly.
- Could you describe your approach to resolving challenging situations?
Head of Recruitment
I was told the first step would be a quick screening, like 10-15 minutes, just to check a few things. But when we actually had the call, they asked competency-based questions for 30 minutes, like asking me what transformation means to me. It felt like the setup they gave me didn't match the interview at all.
- What does transformation mean to you?
- How do you influence stakeholders?
Policy Manager
The hiring process began with a CV review, followed by an interview that included a test. This test was designed to reflect the actual duties of the position. The main interview involved a panel of three interviewers, and there were some subsequent questions asked.
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
