Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The NPD Group.
Summer Associate
The first interview was pretty easy but the recruiter didn't seem to know much. It took them over a month to get back to me about a second round. They actually scheduled me with the wrong department, which doesn't match my major or skills. After another month, they rejected me, and this was after I emailed my recruiter about my concerns, but I never heard back from them.

I applied through my college admissions portal, submitting a resume with an optional cover letter. A couple of weeks later, I got a call saying I'd be interviewed. The process involved a single superday at the company's Port Washington, NY campus (they covered flights and hotels). It included a ~20-30 minute group interview with three higher-ups. The questions were standard behavioral ones. Everyone was really friendly, and we were encouraged to chat with other applicants between interviews. It was a nice experience overall.
- Can you share an example of leadership or teamwork?
- What interests you about NPD?
- Why are you interested in Market Research?
Summer Associate
I applied in late December through my school's career website. Around the start of January, an HR person from the company called me. I was actually on vacation then, so I had to reschedule the phone interview for after I got back. A few weeks later, she set up four phone interviews for me with VPs/EVPs/EDs, all happening throughout February. Then, at the beginning of March, I went to their office in Long Island for two in-person interviews.
- Would you say you're technically inclined?
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- What prompted your interest in NPD?
