Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The NPD Group.
Account Manager
First, there was a phone interview with some basic questions. Then, an in-person interview with 3 different people, one after another. They seemed well-organized and didn't ask the same questions twice. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, and they seemed to care about both my experience and whether I'd fit in with the company culture.
- From the perspective of a current client, what attracted you to this company?
Account Manager
I had a phone screen, then an interview with the hiring manager over the phone, and finally an in-person interview with the team. I had to decline further consideration because of really bad communication from all the departments and they couldn't give me updates. The recruiter and manager didn't respond for almost 3 months even though I followed up weekly. Glad I didn't end up there.
- What value can you bring to this team?
Account Manager
Applied online and then HR called about a month later. The process included a phone screener with HR, a phone interview with the Hiring Manager, and then in-office interviews (30 mins each) with the Hiring Manager, the Business Unit's President, and a Senior Manager. An "Analytical Assessment" involving POS data was planned by HR, but it didn't happen because HR didn't send the data beforehand for analysis and presentation/Q&A after the in-person interviews.
- Are you more of a "hunter gatherer" or a "harvester"?
- Can you share an instance where your research directly benefited a client's business?
- Tell me about a challenge you encountered while conducting research for a client.
