First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The NPD Group.
Account Specialist
The HR recruiter contacted me for a standard phone screening that happened the next day. They asked typical questions about why I'm interested in the role and how my experience aligns with the job duties. They also discussed the position's expectations and the kind of clients I'd interact with daily. After all this, I was told they might be too late to interview me, but I'd hear back that day or the next about whether they'd bring me in last minute. This was surprising, given the whole call. The recruiter did offer to look for similar roles if this one didn't work out and assured me I'd get an update. I followed up by email the next day but never got a response. The whole experience felt unprofessional.

Account Specialist
I had a phone interview scheduled for Thursday afternoon. I waited for the call, but it didn't come until 25 minutes later. The interviewer explained that she had just finished a meeting that ran long. She didn't apologize, which I found weird and rude. We rescheduled for early the following week. On the morning of the rescheduled interview, I was ready at the scheduled time. 20 minutes later, the phone rang. Again, no apology for the delay. She asked how I was, and I told her I was disappointed she was late again and hadn't apologized. She got defensive, apologized for being 'a few minutes late,' and said it was unavoidable due to call volume. I told her if this is how they treat candidates, I wondered how they treat employees. I thanked her and said I was no longer interested. It's disappointing to experience such a lack of courtesy and respect from this company.

Account Specialist
The whole interview process spanned three months. It started with a phone screening by HR, followed by three in-person interviews at the New York headquarters with Senior Management. After that, they asked me to prepare and deliver a presentation on a topic of my choice, focusing on my data analytics and presentation skills to gauge my comfort level presenting to C-Level clients. During the presentation, I was interrupted a few times by interviewers with questions to see how I'd react when put on the spot. I received a job offer two weeks after the presentation and started the job a month later.
- Can you share your sales experience?
