We chatted in the back office and talked about my past work history. They asked me for examples of when I led a team or worked well with others. I also needed to confirm I could work weekends. It was a pretty straightforward process.

Behavioral Technical Group Presentation

The interview process at the Braintree branch started with a short, informal 5-minute phone call. This was followed by a face-to-face group interview at the store lasting about an hour. They had a new recruitment process with three parts. First, a confidence speech where applicants had to create stories about product pictures, explaining why the item was worth buying. Second, a store quiz involved finding answers by asking staff or customers, like asking a colleague about their favourite waterproof jacket or interviewing a customer about their visit. Finally, the store manager asked about shift availability and some deeper questions, like the most adventurous thing I'd done. I enjoyed the process, and although it seemed like a lot for a shop assistant, it showed they wanted people with good interpersonal skills. They ask for high professionalism and product knowledge, which feels a bit much for minimum wage.
