Applied online and got contacted for an in-person interview quickly. The interview was yesterday and it included the Wonderlic test, which was pretty easy. They also did a standard resume review and I had opportunities to talk about my experiences. I interviewed with Anna from HR, who was warm, kind, and professional. I sent in my social media assessment test last night, and got a follow-up email this morning saying they'd be in touch. Everything I saw at the organization intrigued me more. The receptionist, Julie, was personable and made me feel at ease. I spoke to a few people who were nice and outgoing. Two weeks later, I haven't heard back after leaving a message and two emails.

The interview experience at The MX Group wasn't great, and neither was my colleague's. It started with a skills assessment (WonderLic). The interviews themselves were pretty unstructured, making it hard to ask the interviewers questions. It felt like many of them didn't have much interviewing experience. The questions mostly required short answers, not much room for creative discussion. While some employees, like the VP, seemed knowledgeable, they didn't seem to have much experience with different ways to manage customers or deliver solutions. They're a custom development shop, not partnered with other tech companies. The whole vibe felt pompous and dismissive. It had a 'country club' feel, which wasn't for me. When I tried to ask about their customers, role challenges, or the company itself, they'd dodge the questions or give really vague answers. On the upside, they seem to use modern tech for their clients, and the location is good if you live in the suburbs.

The initial step involved a video screen, which was odd. If you scheduled an early interview, like for tomorrow, they sent a Wonderlic exam right away and required it to be completed before the screen. The exam wasn't mentioned during the screen itself. The recruiter seemed uninterested in discussing the company, making it difficult to understand their business beyond general B2B examples. It was hard to tell if I even wanted to work there after the screen, which could have been a simple phone call. Thankfully, I didn't proceed past this pseudo phone screen, as they informed me the next day. My overall impression was 'meh,' definitely underwhelming, though not outright negative, just a bit annoying with the initial hurdles.

Applied for a sales role, but HR suggested an account management opening instead. My Wonderlic scores were good, but it didn't seem to matter. I then interviewed with HR and an Account Director. They asked me to prepare a presentation about a made-up project. I had 30 minutes to review the info, answer questions, and create a 5-slide presentation. I thought I did well and they told me I did too, but then I never heard back. It was a disappointing end after some good initial calls and interviews.
