First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Motley Fool.
Intern
I sent in my application online back in January and about three weeks later I got an email to set up a phone interview. It was pretty chill, they put me on speakerphone. There were 3 people interviewing me. They were nice and just seemed to want to chat and get to know me. They asked about my investing background and my schooling, then let me ask them questions and told me about the work environment. The whole thing was less than 30 minutes.
- What classes are you currently enrolled in?
Intern
I applied online which was easy, then I emailed someone I knew who was applying. I didn't hear back for a bit. I went to a young-people event at the office and talked to the person reviewing my application. I thought I wouldn't get the job. I didn't hear anything for a couple more weeks, then I had a phone interview that was really easy, mostly just getting to know me and what I wanted to do. I didn't hear anything for a couple weeks, but then I got the job. It was pretty easy overall, and they were really nice, though a bit confusing because I had no idea about my chances.
- What are your interests?
Intern
I got a call from a recruiter, and we talked about standard fit questions before moving on to some technical questions. The whole thing was about 30 to 40 minutes and pretty standard.
