Server
I had one interview with the manager. We talked about my past serving and bartending experience, and they asked about my schedule. I also asked if I could host sometimes.
- Can you describe your knowledge of alcoholic beverages?
- Could you share details about your prior experience in serving?
- Tell me about your experience with bartending.
Server Assistant/Busser
The interview was super chill and not hard at all. You just fill out an application when you get there, and then they ask about your availability. You gotta know which days you can work, but they're pretty chill about it. Check out their website beforehand to get ready, and make sure you make eye contact when you're talking to them.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Back of House
The interviewer was pushy and started by asking about my current salary. When they offered a starting wage, they advised against discussing it with other staff, implying they'd earn less. Although the handbook mentioned benefits, I was told only managers get them. There's no PTO or insurance for crew, which seems to contradict the handbook's hints about benefits. They expect full-time work without health coverage.
- What is your current salary?
Hostess
The owners were really warm, friendly, and down-to-earth. They showed me realistic ways I could grow my career with them and shared personal success stories that made me want to join their team. I met a lot of interesting people there, like artists, educators, historians, and entrepreneurs. A customer even noticed how kind and eloquent I was and told me about their writing business as a side hustle. I've made some great friends here too.
- Do you have prior experience in customer service?
- Are you a friendly person?
- Can you prioritize tasks and handle multiple things at once?
