First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at the LEGO Group.
Product Designer
We had an initial meeting on Teams with two managers. It was a pretty relaxed and informal chat. The first stage lasted about 30 minutes and was a good chance to show off what you've done. They made it feel really welcoming.
- Can you tell me why you applied for this role?
- Could you share an example of something you've designed that you're particularly proud of?
- Do you have availability for social events on Thursday evenings?
Product Designer
It started with a recruiter call, then I met with the hiring manager and some team members. After that, I was given a case study to work on and present it for 2 hours. The process was generally fine and the people were nice. I was told I'd hear back about the offer status the day after the final step. However, instead of a call, I got an email saying they hired someone with more experience in a specific area, which was odd since I never claimed to have that experience. I was also offered more detailed feedback, which I requested immediately. It's been over 2 weeks and several follow-ups later, and I still haven't heard anything back or received any updates; I've been completely ignored.
- Can you tell me about your experience with design systems?
Product Designer
The overall interview process was smooth and pleasant, with friendly and open people. Discussions covered not only professional skills but also personality and work styles. The only drawback was the extended period between application and the initial interview invitation.
- Can you walk me through your past experience?
- What motivated you to apply for this role?
- In the context of developing a novel design or concept, what volume of user research data would you typically gather?
