Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at the LEGO Group.
Manager
First, there was a screening call with a talent interviewer covering general experience and a technical skills checklist. The second round involved an interview with the team's Director and another team member, mixing behavioral, experience, motivation, and technical questions pertinent to the role. The final round was a 1.5-hour session with the team's director and a senior colleague. Three days prior, I received three datasets and a list of questions. I was tasked with modeling the data and generating a report to address these questions. The session included an hour for discussing the modeling task, followed by 30 minutes of behavioral/fit questions.
- Could you describe your ideal workday?
- What do you find most challenging in your current position?
- How would your colleagues describe their experience working with you?
Manager
The process had 4 steps. The first three were straightforward, but then there was a week-long pause before a fourth round, a 'case study.' This case study was actually just an open-ended task to gather information, and it didn't touch on any specific job duties or issues that should have been figured out earlier. It was pretty disappointing since the rest of the candidate experience here has been really positive and smooth.
- How would you describe your personality?
- Do you think you would be a good cultural fit here?
Insights Manager
The interview process was really well put together, and they made sure I knew what to expect at each stage. The talent operations lead who was coordinating with me was super friendly and explained the process really clearly. She seemed to know a lot about the company and what they're looking for in this role. My hiring manager was also great throughout the process – very welcoming, asked good questions, was polite, and clearly explained the skills, both soft and hard, that are needed for the job.
- When it comes to an insight research project, how do you determine whether qualitative or quantitative research methods are more appropriate?
