First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Kraft Group.
Director of Talent Acquisition
The interview process started with a 45 minute HireVue video interview (one-way), followed by 15 minutes of interactive math questions and matching games. I think HireVue is helpful in certain situations and roles, especially for high volume positions, but for a Director level, high-touch position this immediately gave red flags. Followed by this interview was an interview with an HR Director, who only at this point (again, an almost hour long interview which required quite a bit of prep), explained that the job had been open for months and that it was required to be on-site in Foxboro five days a week until 6-7pm. For a company that boasts its commitment to diversity and inclusion, that schedule seems to alienate quite a few populations (caregivers, parents, anyone who wants a life). As it was explained to me, when the Krafts are there they expect everyone to be visible, which is an extremely old-school boys club mentality. The interview questions were standard, no behavioral questions and more around experience leading and managing a team as well as being hands on in recruiting. The HR director did explain that the role has been hard to fill as they have been picky in finding someone that is willing to work within their schedule and also manage employees that are willing to as well. Needless to say, the job seemingly remains open with a new title.

Director of Talent Acquisition
This was an open interview, a freewheeling discussion with some typical behavioral questions, more like a history and experience review. They gave a nice friendly presentation of company challenges hiring gameday folks in the post Super Bowl era. They use HireVue for recorded interview questions - not a fan, but seems to be the next wave. Next steps: no more recruiters. AI and HireVue-like products feel impersonal.
- What are the specific corporate functions involved in hiring?

The phone screen included a discussion about the in-office schedule, which I confirmed. Although the interviewer pressed on my answer, I let it go. I had a weird feeling because the hiring manager had a similar vibe to a past manager I had a bad experience with, but I tried to be open-minded. During the call, the hiring manager seemed distracted by texting/messaging others and kept apologizing. We then scheduled onsite interviews. The day before, the hiring manager asked to reschedule from 9am to 5pm, which I agreed to. Upon arrival, I waited past 5pm. The interview then started immediately in his office without an office tour. He was frequently on his phone, stating he was waiting for the next panel member to be ready. When I inquired about benefits, he gave a dismissive response. Once the panel member was ready, we went to her office. She made a rude comment about my current company while looking at my resume. She then seemed to be on her phone for most of my answers, indicating she wasn't truly listening. She mentioned someone at another company was having an emergency and asked the hiring manager for questions, who pointed out they had already spoken. She then expressed uncertainty about what else to ask. The entire interview was less than 45 minutes. I received an automated rejection email three weeks later, after being told I'd hear by Friday.
- Can you describe how you communicate with hiring managers regarding job openings and potential candidates?
