First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The KC Standard.
Event Coordinator
I had two interviews with two really knowledgeable people who seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. Since it's COVID, they conducted the interviews via Zoom. It's a shame that after two interviews, I didn't get any word back about not getting the job. For a company that says they care about their employees, they don't seem to have much respect for people looking for a job.

Event Manager
The ladies I met were very friendly and welcoming. It was short and quick. The interviewer seemed knowledgeable and sweet! I hope I get the job and love it!
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
Event Coordinator
The hiring process starts with an initial interview that seems to focus on getting to know the candidate. However, the second interview is conducted in a very unconventional and unprofessional setting, like the checkout line of a grocery store. The job title 'Event Coordinator' is misleading because the actual role involves starting in sales/promotional work in places like Costco, Walmart, and Sam's Club. After a few months, you can get promoted to a leader for 3-6 months, then to assistant manager for a few months, and finally to 'manager.' In the 'manager' role, your main responsibility is to set up promotional events for the new hires to sell products. Compensation is structured the same for the first three roles (promotional sales, leader, assistant manager), with pay being $10/hr per person or 18% of sales, split among all sales staff that day. Once you reach the 'manager' position, your share of the sales commission increases slightly to 20% of sales.
