Project Manager
The interview process started with a screening where I had to fill out an application and answer some online questions. Then, HR reached out to ask me more questions. After that, a telephone interview was set up with the Vice President. I was then invited for an on-site interview in Charlotte, NC, which took all day. People I was supposed to meet were running late due to meetings, which I found very inconsiderate given I traveled from out of town. I also missed lunch because the person guiding me around had to attend meetings and had someone else take me to mine instead. They mentioned they'd let me know by Friday. I waited, but nobody contacted me, so I tried reaching out to the HR rep via email and phone messages. After two weeks, I finally got hold of someone who informed me they had already filled the position and I just wasn't notified.
- Can you describe the project methodologies you've employed?
Senior Project Manager
Initially, a Third Party Recruiting Firm reached out, and we talked about the job, the role, and did the first interview. Then, the Account Manager (VP, Relationship Manager) at the Recruiting Firm got in touch to go over the role, duties, my background, skills, and if I might be a good fit. Next, The Hartford HR/Recruiting for the Personal Insurance Group contacted me to discuss the role, responsibilities, background, skills, and fit. The Director/Hiring Manager for the position joined part of this call. After that, I met the Recruiting Firm Account Representative (who was new to her role) at The Hartford in downtown Hartford for a meet & greet. It was very brief, as she was meeting the Client for the first time. While I was there, I had an In-Person Interview with the Director/Hiring Manager (at the beginning and end, it was rushed, about 20-30 minutes total). Then, I interviewed with a Project Manager (Technology) for 30-45 minutes, followed by an interview with a Project Manager (Systems Projects) for 30-45 minutes. After that, I spoke with a Program Manager (e-Commerce Projects/New Products) for 30-45 minutes, and then with the IT/QA Testing Manager for 30-45 minutes. Finally, I wrapped up with the Director/Hiring Manager.
- Can you discuss your general approach to Project Risk Management and Organizational challenges?
- Tell me about your experience with Strategic Projects, Budget, Workload, and Resource/Work Priorities.
Project Manager
I had a great chat with the AVP for the department. It was a pretty standard behavioral interview, basically to see if I was a good fit for the company. The AVP was really nice and definitely sold me on the place. They also connected me with some other employees so I could learn more about the work while we wait for openings.
- Could you describe an environment where you find it difficult to work effectively?
