I heard from a recruiter about 10 days after I applied. She told me about the company and set up a phone interview for the next week with a senior data scientist. The call was about 30 minutes long. Since I have a background in Physical Sciences, they asked me to explain my research without getting too technical. I was also asked about my interest in the insurance industry and then a technical question about building a predictive model. I got to ask questions about the company and their work, which was helpful. A few days later, the recruiter called to say they weren't moving forward with my application and gave me some good feedback. Both people I spoke with were nice and the screening wasn't too difficult. I think I messed up mainly because I'm new to interviews (this was my first phone interview ever), so my answer about the modeling question wasn't as structured or technical as it should have been. I also think I could have picked a better model.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was incredibly long, likely involving about 7 different people. I was informed at the end that they have a grading system and only extend offers to candidates who score above the median compared to their existing team. Additionally, one person, not the hiring manager, has a veto power for reasons unknown to me. It felt like a science experiment, and I didn't get an offer despite meeting with so many people.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a phone screen which was a basic behavioral question. Unfortunately, I couldn't proceed due to sponsorship eligibility. The recruiter was very nice, and overall it was a great experience. The next steps would have included a 1-hour behavioral interview and a 1-hour technical case study.

  • Can you introduce yourself?
  • Could you describe a project or experience from your resume?
