First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Hartford.
Lead Consultant
It was a clear, quick, and thorough interview process. I spoke with the recruiter first, then the hiring manager. After that, I met with some of the hiring manager's colleagues. Then, I had conversations with three people who are a level below the hiring manager, and one of them was actually a direct report to the hiring manager. Finally, I talked to the hiring manager's boss. I felt the whole thing was handled well and it made me feel good about the job and the team.

HR reached out a week after I applied, and we spoke about the role and my background in the second week. Later in the second week, HR asked for my availability to interview with the Hiring Manager and team. I interviewed with the Hiring Manager and team in the third week. They mentioned it would take about a month for a decision. In the fifth week, HR contacted me to meet the Hiring Manager again. I met the Hiring Manager and learned I was a top candidate and needed a deep technical interview. In the sixth week, I had a technical assessment with SMEs. HR contacted me at the start of the eighth week with an offer. The hiring process felt a bit long, but HR was responsive.

Senior Consultant
I got a call from HO HR to do an online application and a 'Profile Assessment.' The assessment wasn't too tough. A few weeks later, HR called again for an interview with my potential manager. I drove 2.5 hours to meet for lunch, which was a good interview where I could also ask questions. I was told they had other candidates and I'd hear back in 3-4 weeks. After 4 weeks, I emailed the manager. He called back saying his boss in Chicago wanted to interview me. Then the recruiter called to see if I was still interested since it had been a long time and the job was on 'hold.' I agreed to meet the regional manager, driving 6 hours and spending $117 on gas and parking. The interview was 'behavior' based and lasted 2 hours. When I asked about the next step, he said the same thing as the other manager. As I left, he dropped the bomb that the next step was 'retirement,' which surprised me as a seasoned pro. I waited another 4 weeks and emailed the original manager, who said a decision wasn't made and wouldn't be for a while after the holidays. 5 hours after that email, HO HR called to say they picked someone with more 'sprinkler hydraulics' experience, which was never really discussed in depth. After the holidays, I saw the same job posted on LinkedIn by The Hartford!
