First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Hartford.
Actuarial
Had a few quick chats with different folks who asked various questions, and then got a quick look around the office. We ate lunch and then worked on a group case study. After that, we presented our case study findings and had to answer questions about it.
- Could you walk me through your resume?
Actuarial
So after I reached out, I had this first call, lasted about half an hour, pretty chill, mostly just talking about my resume. Then, like a week later, they got back to me and invited me to come to the company. This was like, two weeks out. It was a four-hour thing on-site, and it was a group interview. I met a bunch of other students who were also in the program. We had lunch, and then we did this group project thing where we all had to work together and then present it. It definitely needed some critical thinking and a clean presentation.
- What would you pack for a deserted island?
- Could you describe a situation where you had to overcome a challenge?
- What motivated you to apply for this position?
Actuarial Intern
So there were 8 potential interns, and we started with intros. Then we took a tour of the office and did these speed dating interviews. Most interviewers were really nice and asked different questions. Some questions were formal, but mostly it was like a conversation with a few small questions thrown in. After that, we had lunch and then split into groups of 4 for a case study that we had to do in 20 minutes before presenting.
- How would you go about figuring out the number of people who travel daily between New York City and Boston?
