Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Hanover Insurance Group.
Intern
The interview process involved a recruiter call, followed by a phone screen. Then there were typically three to four consecutive interviews for the final round, which could include technical screens and onsite or panel interviews. Overall, the experience was positive, and the interviewers were very nice.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
Intern
Interviewed for an intern position. You start with a phone screen. Then there are 4, 30-minute calls back-to-back, which is pretty intense, but the team is really nice. Be prepared to talk about yourself a lot. It felt like they were vibe-checking, you know? If you get to the second round, bring a positive attitude, express your interest, and share what you specifically want to do at the company. They don't expect you to know everything about insurance; they just want to see if you fit their culture!
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Hanover and what aspects appeal to you?
- What technical skills do you possess?
- How would you handle a market downturn?
Intern
Recruiters don't get back to you after the first round. This happened to me twice in a row. The campus recruiting team needs to get better.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
