The whole process was a waste of time. Just so you know, once you get past the recruiter screening, you're going to go through the whole interview thing no matter what. Unlike normal companies where you get cut if someone doesn't think you're a fit a round or two in, they'll keep interviewing you even if they're sure you're not the one. The process goes like this: Recruiter call, then a call with a Consultant or senior consultant, followed by a take-home assessment that felt unnecessary. I found it really annoying because if I could have made a decision earlier, I wouldn't have had to do it. If you can decide without my input, why make me do it? Then there's a Partner call. Honestly, it wasn't not getting selected that made this so bad, it was the disrespect for candidates. They waste our time and then have the audacity to send an automated rejection email instead of a call to debrief. So rude.
- What values would you want your own company to have?
- How do you deal with projects that are boring and unfulfilling?

The interview process was pretty standard. I went through four interviews in total and completed one case study. I had a virtual screening with a recruiter, then a virtual interview with a Senior Consultant, followed by virtual interviews with two Principals. The final round involved an in-person interview with one Principal and a virtual interview with another Principal, making it a three-person panel. The interviews were mostly behavioral and scenario-based, with no technical questions. The Gunter Group was very professional throughout; they communicated when they said they would, and the interviewers were punctual, engaged, and fully focused on me, ensuring a great experience. The only odd part was the case study – since I spent a few hours on it, I expected at least one question about it, but none were asked during the final interview. I'm sure there are reasons for this, but I found it a bit strange.
- How would you differentiate between industry experience and consulting experience?
- Could you share your experience leading a team or managing employees to achieve project success?
- In your opinion, what qualities define a good leader?

The interview journey was really great from start to finish. Just like others mentioned, all the interviews felt like natural conversations where they genuinely paid attention to what I said. After the first chat with the recruiter, I went through three more interviews over about a month. Each one was about 50 minutes long, and I got to ask my questions in every session. HR got back to me within 2-3 days after each interview to let me know the next steps. It was a truly positive experience!
- Can you describe how you manage receiving feedback?
- In your opinion, what qualities define a successful consultant?
- What motivates your decision to pursue consulting as your next career move?
