Management Consultant
The application and interviewing logistics are very straightforward and swift. The formula at the moment appears to be 1) recruiter/HR screening 2) senior consultant video interview 3) business case submission paired with 2 lead or principal consultants video interview 4) most likely meet with the founder and a partner before an offer. This firm gets very high marks for applicant transparency and respecting timelines. The job posting and materials on the company website also give you more than you need to understand the culture, benefits, pay, and prepare questions/answers for your interviews. On the needs improvement side I will say, knowing TGG is very involved and active on Glassdoor, that there is still some unnecessary opacity to the hiring process. In 2021 we can simply do better than "we went with the other candidate, good luck" if someone makes it well past the screening and contributes a work product. Curiously missing was a courtesy offer to stay in touch for future opportunities or to even debrief with your recruiter for learning purposes. Furthermore, questioning during the lead/principal round can lack a theme or apparent goal - are you all looking for highly specialized consultants? Broad Generalists? Data/Process oriented individuals or more People/Adoption focused? Some industries (healthcare, tech, retail, etc.) more valued than others? No idea from my experience (or any help from the rejection email) but these interviewers may also come across as annoyed if you express that you're not sure what they're trying to ask or know about your client work or general work philosophy. Lastly, this appears to be an excellent firm to work for but employee diversity may be a concern if you are Black or Hispanic/Latino.
- How would you manage a situation with a client's C-suite executive who has totally unrealistic project expectations?
- What are the characteristics of an ineffective consultant?
- Tell me about your career aspirations and your strengths.
Consultant
The interview process was pretty standard. I went through four interviews in total and completed one case study. I had a virtual screening with a recruiter, then a virtual interview with a Senior Consultant, followed by virtual interviews with two Principals. The final round involved an in-person interview with one Principal and a virtual interview with another Principal, making it a three-person panel. The interviews were mostly behavioral and scenario-based, with no technical questions. The Gunter Group was very professional throughout; they communicated when they said they would, and the interviewers were punctual, engaged, and fully focused on me, ensuring a great experience. The only odd part was the case study – since I spent a few hours on it, I expected at least one question about it, but none were asked during the final interview. I'm sure there are reasons for this, but I found it a bit strange.
- How would you differentiate between industry experience and consulting experience?
- Could you share your experience leading a team or managing employees to achieve project success?
- In your opinion, what qualities define a good leader?
Project Manager
This was the first round with talent acquisition. It was a webcam meeting where we talked about the firm and what they are looking for. I was told they are "always looking for the right people". The interview lasted about 40 minutes, and most of it was the interviewer talking about what they do and their culture. They definitely seem to look for a certain "type" when interviewing, which isn't unusual for consulting firms. After the webcam screening interview, I got the standard rejection email.
- What made you want to join TGG?

Operations Specialist
Interviewing with TGG was a great experience. They were quick and clear with their communication, and made sure I was aware of every single part of the process. It took about a month total from application to job offer, with 4 different interviews with different people on the team. I felt very informed and prioritized during my time interviewing and I had an overall positive experience.
