First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Concord Group.
Analyst
The interview process involved meaningful questions. I had the opportunity to meet most of the team, and they appeared to be a smart group. Everyone was welcoming and knowledgeable about their work in real estate projects covering diverse product types across various US markets. This seems like a good way to get into the real estate industry.
- Can you discuss your relevant previous experience?
Researcher
First there's a phone interview, then an in-person interview. The phone interview will cover your experience with real estate and your interest in it, as well as your previous research experience and how you handle data. The in-person interview will re-ask these questions and also ask about your long-term career goals and how this role fits into them.
- Could you tell me about your prior research work?
- What experience do you have in real estate?
- What makes you interested in working in real estate?
Associate Consultant
Had a disorganized and chaotic interview process with 15-minute slots to talk to different people, followed by a case study. It felt very disorganized, and the same questions were asked repeatedly, making me repeat myself. Many interviewers seemed disengaged or uninterested, and one Principal was particularly rude. There was a lack of diversity in the office, with many young employees who seemed inexperienced, especially regarding real estate. It felt like they were looking for someone 'interesting' rather than someone talented or intelligent, and their definition of 'interesting' was unclear. The most concerning aspect was that most interviewers lacked knowledge of proforma, which is crucial for a real estate consulting company.
- Can you share some information about yourself?
Executive Assistant
First I spoke with the CFO one on one to go over my experience and how it would work for this role. Then I had a second interview with the three principals of our office, including the President. Each of them met with me individually. We talked about a bunch of things to make sure I was a good fit for the job.
- In what ways can you use your past experience for this role?
