Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Software Engineer
The interview included object-oriented programming questions. They asked me to explain all the topics of OOP: encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction. There was also a coding question about reversing a string, like turning 'hello' into 'olleh'. Most of the questions were behavioral, asking about myself, projects I've done, and my skills.
- Can you explain OOP concepts?
- Tell me about your background and experience.
- Describe personal projects you've worked on.
Software Engineer
It was pretty simple. There were maybe about 3 phases of interview, each was 10 mins. They ask about OOP principles, such and inheritance, and polymorphism. They ask you to do an algorithm question(Leetcode easy), and then ask more questions.
- Can you explain what inheritance is in OOP?
- Tell me about OOP principles such as inheritance and polymorphism.
- Could you solve this Leetcode easy algorithm question?
Software Engineer
I applied online and then connected with the hiring manager through an internal contact. They gave me a take-home project where I had to build an app based on mockups and specific requirements. After that, I came in for an in-person interview with the team. They got back to me quickly and extended an offer not long after.
- What are your strategies for optimizing a web application?
- Can you build a React component that meets the given specifications?
