The interview was super chill and the interviewers were right on time. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview, and they seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me better as a person.

I went through an interview as part of my education program at BYU. It was basically an interview with a professor who is the point person for the Church within the degree program. I was the only one from my program competing for this.

I interviewed on a college campus for an internship. Because it's a religious organization, getting an interview was quite accessible, and they welcome anyone. I think this is partly due to employee retention challenges (lower pay for religious reasons), but mainly because interviews are seen as valuable experience for applicants, and since everyone shares the same faith, the Church wants to be supportive. I actually had multiple interviews, each with a slightly different experience. Given the low barrier to entry for interviews, the interviewers are understandably busy, so sometimes you might be interviewed by someone who doesn't usually handle your specific position. This happens frequently enough that they're capable of stepping in, but it can make the interview tougher because they're less certain about what to look for, making it harder to impress them. Each time, I just had to sign up for a slot and show up a bit early for some paperwork. Typically, there's a 10 to 30-minute wait before they're ready to interview you. The interview itself is pretty straightforward, involving some paper coding, questions about your past experiences, and sometimes actual coding. After the interview, you get an email either accepting or rejecting your application. For the internship, there was only this one interview.
