First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Children's Place.
Store Manager
Applied through Indeed and got contacted the next day by the DM for an interview. I interviewed with the DM, as the Store Manager was new and hadn't been in the role long enough to interview. The interview was in the mall food court. The DM mentioned she had recently taken over the district and had almost filled all the management positions, with 4 open spots remaining, including mine. I had to complete the online application on their website and take the manager assessment, which took about 30 minutes. The interview was on a Friday, and I received the offer the following Monday. It was a very quick and easy process.
- What are your goals for this store with a new management team?
- What are your future career aspirations?
Assistant Store Manager
The Store Manager got in touch with me about a week after I applied to do an assessment. After I finished it, I called him back, passed, and he scheduled an in-store interview for me. It was pretty in-depth with the usual ASM questions. He then and there set up my second interview with another SM, which I had over the phone the same day. Both of these interviews were an hour long. The next day, they let me know to get ready for an interview with the District Manager, which took place a few days later. This one was quick, to the point, and about 30 mins. This company really seems to value hiring people who are passionate, knowledgeable, aware, and committed, which is what I've seen from the staff so far.
- Can you describe a time you dealt with a challenging customer situation?
- Could you outline the main duties of your previous role?
- How would you manage several tasks at once, like serving a customer at the register, helping someone who just walked in, and answering the phone?
Assistant Store Manager
I interviewed with 2 store managers for this role. It was pretty off the cuff, not really a structured interview. I ended up asking them more business questions than they asked me. It took about a month to finally get a follow up interview with the District Manager. I finally had that interview on a Saturday morning, and she took two personal phone calls on her Bluetooth while I was answering her questions.
- Can you describe your management style?
