Behavioral Case Presentation

While I was shopping in the store, an assistant manager noticed my style and asked if I'd be interested in a job. I said yes. She then introduced me to the store manager, who, despite being on her way to lunch, took a moment to chat about what I'd be interested in doing. Afterwards, the assistant manager had me complete some info on an iPad, and mentioned an application would be emailed to me. I got the email the next day and filled out the application, which included a test! I then called to schedule an interview for the following week. I dressed in Buckle attire for the interview. The manager wanted to walk around the store with me for about 15 minutes, which felt a bit odd. The interview itself took place on the sales floor. We had a good conversation and she asked me questions. She even complimented my outfit. She then scheduled me for a second interview the following week. When I arrived, the interview was held in the back of the store with a different assistant manager. We spoke more, and then she made an offer. The job came with a 40% discount, minimum wage, and 3% commission. They had a sales goal of $150/hr and expected 3 appointments to be scheduled weekly. Ultimately, I couldn't accept because the pay was too uncertain for a full-time position. The manager has remained friendly and still asks about me when I shop there.

The interview was super short, about 5 minutes, right on the sales floor. This girl hit me with like 10 questions, but it seriously felt like she didn't care at all about my answers, just robotically reading them. And the 'Definitely!' after every single one? Wild. I eventually told her the commute was too much for me and I'd only consider a closer spot. She then weirdly said I'd need to reapply. Before I bailed, I asked about salary, but they wouldn't say until I was hired. Makes no sense to reapply without knowing pay. Total joke of a place.

Behavioral Other

The interview was super casual, held right on the sales floor. It was pretty short, maybe 15 minutes. What I didn't like was how informal it was; they didn't mention any dress code beforehand, so I showed up in a suit, but the interviewer was in jeans and a t-shirt.
