First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Buckle.
Sales Leader
They didn’t listen to my work availability during the interview and my schedule was completely wrong. Made me think they weren’t listening to anything I had to say during my interview.
- Why did you choose Buckle?
Sales Representative
I applied online and got a call from the manager the day after submitting my application, asking me to come in for an interview the next day. The interview was a bit informal, happening in a corner of the store with the manager dressed casually, which is typical since employees wear brands like Buckle to advertise. It's important to remember sales staff work primarily on commission, though there's an hourly wage. This means you need to be assertive and comfortable talking to strangers. After the interview, the manager discussed it with another manager and then offered me the job on the spot, which they apparently rarely do. Even without retail experience, they felt I'd be a good fit. I recommend wearing clothes similar to what Buckle sells, like those from Rue 21, and knowing some of the brands they carry (Affliction, Sinful, BKE, Billabong, Hurley, Fox, Roxy, Miss Me, etc.) if you're serious about getting hired. A note from the interview paper indicated that if they intend to hire you, they'll either call you or offer the job on the spot; an offer to email means they're not interested.
- What made you decide to apply to Buckle?
- Can you tell me about your responsibilities in your last job?
- What's your availability like?
Sales Team Leader
The interview process was really quick and went smoothly, even though I ended up with a rough team. There were a lot of people leaving and joining, which I only figured out later. Of course, not all stores are the same, and lots of the temporary staff were really good.
- Can you tell me about the brands we carry and which ones you're a fan of?
