First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Bowdoin Group.
Recruiter
I found out about Bowdoin Group at a school career fair and really clicked with the recruiter I spoke with. Then I had a phone screen, which I felt went well. Throughout the process, people kept telling me my experience was impressive. I went to an Open House and connected with many people there. After that, I had an interview that felt pretty standard and went well. I was comfortable and felt I did well. A week later, I was told they chose someone with more experience. It felt a bit misleading because I thought my experience was impressive based on what I was told, but overall it was a fine experience.
- Can you share two personal goals you've set and describe how you accomplished them?
Recruiter
I applied and got a call within 1-2 days. Then I was invited to the office for an interview which went well. After that, I was given a personality assessment and invited for a second interview. The second interview didn't go as well as hoped, and the manager felt the same, but I was still invited for a third interview over the phone where I was asked more questions. I then went in for a third interview and met with three people. I was supposed to do a final activity, but it never happened because I was eliminated. They mentioned that a passion for technology is required, and while they want to help you reach your career goals, you shouldn't mention anything other than recruitment or staffing, otherwise, you'll be rejected. They might say it's hard to connect with you, but the reality is that the managers are hard to connect with, not you. Nice people, good atmosphere, but they are very selective.
- Tell me about a time you experienced failure.

So I applied and then the very next day I got an email to schedule a phone interview. It was about 20 minutes long, and then after that, I got scheduled for an in-person interview for the following week. It turned out to be the same person who interviewed me on the phone. She was really nice and just asked pretty direct questions. The in-person one lasted around 45 minutes.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a significant challenge at work and describe how you handled it?
