The interview process was super fast! I applied online and got a call asking about a phone interview. The next day, I went in for a one-on-one interview and a shop floor assessment. I should hear back in a few days. The shop floor part was actually really fun and engaging, which I didn't expect because I was so nervous at first. I talked to customers, helped them find stuff, price checked sale items, and mentioned promotions. The staff were great and the manager who interviewed me was really friendly and supportive. I applied online and after a week the store manager called me about my availability. A week later, I was invited for a trial at the store, asked to wear black and arrive at a specific time. Upon arrival, the store manager greeted me and led me to the staff room where I stored my belongings. The next part was a bit surprising - there was no formal interview or introduction, and I didn't get to know the individual interviewer. On the shop floor, the manager briefly showed me around and then gave me a product to take outside and 'lease line'. This meant I had to approach passersby and encourage them to try a new cream. It was quite embarrassing and cold, like a punishment. Afterward, I was asked to help customers inside, which I felt comfortable with due to my previous customer service experience. The other sales staff were friendly and helpful. The trial lasted about 25 minutes. Given that there was no interview and the manager mentioned many people were coming in for trials, I felt I didn't have a real chance to showcase my skills. Being sent outside right after meeting the manager made me nervous, despite my usual confidence. Two weeks later, I received a call saying I was unsuccessful, which I was relieved about because the other staff mentioned strict sales targets, and I wasn't keen on a job where the primary motivation is constantly pushing sales.

The whole interview process took about 45 minutes and it was a group interview. The manager seemed really nice, and so did the other people interviewing. Something I was a bit worried about was having to sell a product I didn't know anything about to the manager. Make sure you do your research on the products if you're not very familiar with them! I'd suggest going into the shop a few times before your interview to have a look around, and maybe even buy some of the products.
