It was an easy interview, more like a chat than an interrogation about my resume. The manager chatted with me about my interests in the industry and my thoughts on skincare. Behavioral questions were also asked.

First there was a chill chat in the staff room, then I did an hour long trial shift. The chat was just me and the store manager, and it was pretty cool. We really clicked. She was super into the products, and we ended up talking about makeup and beauty stuff for a bit. After that, I went down to the shop floor for the trial shift. I made sure to be outgoing and friendly, and I went up to customers. I got to help two ladies pick out lipsticks and even put some on them. It made the hour fly by, it was fun, and I think it went pretty well because of that.

So the interview started off kinda weird because the interviewer had the same uncommon name as me and I kept responding out of habit. Then during the sales roleplay, the interviewer actually left to take a phone call, so a different worker interviewed me. I had to market tea tree products, and I wish I had researched them more. I only knew they were good for blemishes and dry skin and came from tea trees. The worker asked me 'What is exactly tea tree oil?', and I really regret not knowing more about it. Besides that super difficult roleplay, the rest of the interview was pretty standard retail questions.

  • Can you explain what tea tree oil is?
  • What makes you want to work for the Body Shop?
  • What are your reasons for us to hire you?
