First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Body Shop.
Customer Consultant
I applied online and got a call back about two days later. They asked me some basic questions about why I was interested in The Body Shop and my availability, then invited me for a formal interview the very next day. I arrived a few minutes early but still had to wait. The whole interview was super short, maybe 10 minutes tops. They mainly asked about my previous work history and my availability. The interviewer was nice and we had good chemistry, but I got the feeling they really preferred people with prior sales experience, even though they didn't explicitly state it. Two days later, I heard back that I wasn't moving forward, and they mentioned they had a lot of applicants and couldn't provide specific feedback.

Customer Consultant
It was a long interview, taking over an hour. I had the interview stage and then had to do a sales analysis of the shop floor and a trial speaking to customers.
- Tell me about how you manage your team.

I went into the store to drop off my resume since I saw they were hiring. They took it and told me to apply online too. About 1-2 weeks later, I got an email for a group interview. The email said I needed to wear all black and have a full face of makeup, which is the dress code. The group interview was actually pretty fun, even though it was weirdly at 7 pm when the mall closes. There were about 10 of us, guys and girls. We started by introducing ourselves and saying why we wanted to work at The Body Shop, making sure to mention their morals. Then we did a '2 truths and 1 lie' game in pairs. We also got to learn about the products through some role-playing. The interview wrapped up with questions and discussions, where the hiring manager went over the dress code and job duties. She said she'd call in a few days for the second interview. She did ask me and a few others to stay behind to schedule that second interview. Before the second interview, the manager did a reference check. For the second interview, we had to be in full dress code again. This was a one-on-one with the hiring manager. She asked me basic questions about my past retail experience, how I sell and upsell products, and gave me some scenarios to see how I'd handle them. I got hired right away! After my seasonal position ended, they asked me to stay on for a permanent part-time role, which I accepted.
