Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The Blackstone Group.
Private Equity Analyst
I made it to the 3rd phase. The first was some conventional games, the second an online math test, where they watched you by webcam. Finally, two interviews with two mini-cases (accretion / dilution and paper LBO). I didn't move on to the next phase.
- Paper LBO
- Accretion dilution case
Credit Analyst
It was a really tough and selective interview process. They really drilled me on my investing experience and asked why I was interested in working there, even though I didn't know much about the firm or the role. I'm not totally sure what they were looking for, but the culture definitely seemed intense.
- Who is an investor you admire?
Private Equity Analyst
The interview process involved math and finance tests, building an LBO model, and interviews. The LBO model portion was done over Zoom and I had remote screen control, but every action was delayed by 5–10 seconds. I also experienced technical issues because of the Zoom setup, which made it impossible for me to complete the model.
