Inside Sales Representative
I was contacted by the hiring recruiter over the phone and completed a phone screen. The phone screen was to find out what my job at the time entailed, what all I knew about the position I had applied for, and why I wanted to work at The Berry Company. Confidence is key! I was then invited to meet him in person. I had a quick convo with him before doing a mock sales call. I was placed in a room to go over a customer situation and what products I would be offering to him. Being articulate and having a good tone of voice is key! I had no idea what I was reading and doing but apparently the way I spoke over the phone was great, and I remembered to asked for the sale at the end of the mock sales call!! You are then called back into the office to speak with the hiring recruiter (who also happens to be a Sales Manager, and you might be on his team.) If he likes you, he passes you to the next Sales Manager and then another Sales Manager and then the District Manager. If you don't see all Managers, you are not going to get hired. The questions are very easy. As long as you are confident, can hold a conversation, and have some sales experience, then you will more than likely get hired. I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for 5 1/2 years in management, so being offered a job at The Berry Company felt impossible but ended up being possible!
- Would you enjoy spending your entire day on the phone in a cubicle?
- Would you be happy working on the phone all day in a cubicle?
Inside Sales Representative
I first connected with the company at a career fair. A few days later, I had a phone interview. It was pretty tough, with lots of really specific questions. I guess I did okay because the recruiter scheduled another phone interview, this time with the Sales Manager. That one felt a lot easier, fewer questions and they weren't as detailed, mostly just getting a feel for my personality. I was told to look out for an email about an on-site interview. The email came quickly, but it said I didn't get the on-site. Communication was slow otherwise; after the first phone interview, they said I'd hear back in 48 hours, but it took 4 days to get the next call.
- Can you share an instance where a plan went awry and you had to fix it? What was the outcome?
Sales
It was pretty simple - I had three rounds of interviews. First, I spoke with the telephone recruiter, then a couple of managers, and finally the district manager, who extended the offer. Each interview stage asked for specific examples of my accomplishments and also included a role-playing exercise.
- Can you share an instance where you accomplished a specific goal?
- Describe a situation where you did not succeed.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to handle a challenging customer?
