First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at The AA.
Customer Service Representative
I had a phone call first, which went well, and then they invited me for a video interview on Microsoft Teams. I got a date for the second interview about 3 weeks after the first one, which was okay for me since I was working at the time, but I could see that being an issue for people who need a job fast. On the interview day, I joined the call expecting a normal 1-on-1 interview but found 10 other people being interviewed. I wasn't told it would be a group interview in any of the emails, but I figured the group part was just to watch a presentation about working for The AA and then we'd break off into 1-on-1s. I was wrong; they started asking us questions to answer in front of the group of 10+ people. They asked us to answer questions like our past job history, where we're from, why we want the job, a fun fact, and what motivates us, all in front of the group. I have autism and anxiety, which they knew about, and I really think they should have made it super clear it was a group interview because it was super anxiety-inducing for me to only find out when I joined the call! I had prepped for weeks for a regular 1-on-1 with a role-play, so I suddenly felt unprepared. I didn't get past the group stage, so I don't know what happens in the 1-on-1 or role-play parts. I was so anxious and unprepared that I had to leave the call, which I know is bad.
- Can you share an instance where you delivered exceptional service?
- Could you tell us about your previous job history?
- Where are you originally from?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was pretty straightforward. After passing the interview, they offered me the job and congratulated me. However, they then conducted a CBR check and a thorough Experian check, which was fine. On top of that, I had to pay £50 for a birth certificate because the full one I already had wasn't accepted. Then they sent more forms and files which I wasn't comfortable sending because they were confidential and private, but I sent them to keep the process moving. Ultimately, they withdrew the job offer without any explanation. It was a very strange process, and not a company I'd want to work for. Dodged a bullet!
- What makes you want to join our company?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process consisted of a recruiter call, followed by a phone screen, and then a technical screen. The interviewers asked 5 questions that required examples from past experience. After the questions, there was a 10-minute role-play where the candidate had to deal with a nervous customer, focusing on empathy, listening, politeness, and guiding the conversation. This was then followed by a presentation stage.
- Can you tell me about a time you needed to quickly find important information to get a task done?
- What about this role interests you, what of your past skills and qualities would be useful here, and why do you think it's a good match for you?
- Describe a challenging situation you faced and how you handled it.
