First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Texas State.
Career Coach
There was only one interview for this role. We could choose between an in-person or remote format, and I opted for in-person. The interview panel consisted of six committee members. Approximately ten questions were asked, and they were all quite straightforward.
- Could you explain your motivation for applying to this particular position?
Accountant
I thought the interview was going well - they said they would contact me in a few days but for sure within a week with an assessment, that they reassured me they would assist me with to ensure I do not fail it. I never heard back from them again, even after sending a follow-up email.
- What makes you want to be an Accountant?
- What makes you a strong candidate for this Accountant position?
One Stop Advisor
It was a pretty standard zoom interview, lasting about 30 minutes. It was a group interview with a few department heads and supervisors. Not my favorite type of interview. Everyone went around and asked the interview questions. I am bilingual so they did ask about my proficiency with the language.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to deal with a difficult customer?
- What is your proficiency level in other languages?
Coordinator
Application processing took about a week and a half from application period closed and was contacted about setting up an interview. I interviewed with a hiring committee of four people and received a soft offer two and a half weeks later. They gave an official offer a week later once all the hiring paperwork and background check were completed. Everyone was nice, hiring committee members were professional, communication was easy.
- How do you handle workplace conflict?
