The interview process was clear and transparent. About a month after applying, I got an email of interest from the TEA. (It was during the holidays so I'm not sure if that's longer than average). I had an initial phone screening that lasted about 20 minutes and was scheduled for an interview the following week. The interview was a Panel Style Interview and lasted about 90 minutes. After the interview, I received a short assessment with 60 minutes to complete. I felt the interview was fair and thorough. After not hearing back, I followed up around the 3 week mark and got a prompt response. A decision has not been made yet.

You start with the application. You have to fill out a really thorough online profile. Then, there are in-basket items you need to finish, and this usually takes about 3 to 5 days. After that, there's a phone interview to screen you. If that goes well, you'll get another set of timed application exercises. If you pass that, you'll have a hiring panel interview. They'll tell you upfront that it will take a while to hear back after this interview, and they're right about that.

I put in my application on the internet and then about a month later, I got a call for an interview. The first interview had six people and they asked me some pretty basic questions. After that, I had to make a 45-minute presentation for the panel. That went well, so they invited me back for another interview with a manager and the director. That interview also seemed to go fine, and they told me they'd be checking my references soon. My old managers were called and it sounded like I would get the job. About a week and a half after that, I got a call asking if they could call my current supervisors. I said I wasn't comfortable with that because it might put my job at risk. I asked if I could get a firm offer before they called. They insisted they couldn't consider me unless they spoke to my current bosses. Since I really wanted the job and had already gone through a few stages, I agreed. I let my current bosses know beforehand so they wouldn't be surprised. They told me when TEA called and said it looked like I'd probably get the position. They asked me to let them know ASAP if I wasn't returning the next school year. A week and a half later, I still hadn't heard from TEA, so I emailed the manager I interviewed with twice. The next day, she called with some

Applied online and was asked to submit a work sample. Then, had a phone interview (which was easy), followed by a performance task (mildly challenging). After that, participated in a zoom panel interview (which was difficult), and then completed a second performance task (also difficult). There were long waits between stages and no feedback was provided.

  • Could you share an instance where a project did not go as planned and describe your actions?
